Rotate PDF

Rotate every page of a PDF by 90, 180, or 270 degrees in one click — useful for fixing scanned documents saved in the wrong orientation before printing or sharing.

🔒 All processing happens right in your browser — your files are never uploaded to any server.

How to fix the orientation of PDF pages

One of the most common problems with scanned files is pages that appear upside down or lying on their side, because the paper went into the scanner the wrong way or the phone scanning app misread the device's orientation. Such a file is tiring to read and prints sideways. This tool rotates every page in the file by the angle you choose and gives you a corrected copy.

Rotation happens in your browser by changing each page's orientation setting, without re-rendering or recompressing anything, so text and images keep their quality, and text stays selectable and searchable if it was in the original.

How to use it

  1. Drag a PDF onto the Drag PDF file here box, or click to select it.
  2. In the Rotation angle menu, choose 90°, 180° or 270°.
  3. Click Rotate file and wait for "Rotating...".
  4. The new file downloads as rotated.pdf; your original is left untouched.

Choosing the right angle

  • 90°: a quarter turn clockwise, for pages lying on their left side.
  • 180°: turns the page upside down, for fully inverted pages.
  • 270°: equivalent to a quarter turn anticlockwise, for pages lying on their right side.
  • The angle is added to the page's current rotation, so pages that were already rotated will combine both angles.

Practical use cases

  • Correcting a scanned contract whose pages all came out upside down before sending it on.
  • Saving the fix permanently: rotating the view in a PDF reader is usually temporary, while this tool stores the new orientation in the file itself.
  • Turning engineering drawings or wide tables saved in portrait so they display in landscape.
  • Fixing a file from a phone scanning app that saved pages sideways.
  • Preparing a presentation saved as PDF so it shows the right way up on a projector.

Tips and notes

  • All pages rotate by the same angle. If only a few pages need it, extract them into a separate file, rotate that file, then merge everything back in the right order.
  • Not sure which way? Try 90° and open the result; if it is wrong, rotate the original by 270° instead.
  • Password-protected or edit-restricted PDFs may fail to open.
  • File size barely changes, because the content itself is not recreated.

To rotate selected pages only, combine Extract PDF Pages with Merge PDF. If some pages are not needed at all, use Delete PDF pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between 90 and 270 degrees?

90° turns each page a quarter turn clockwise, while 270° is equivalent to a quarter turn anticlockwise.

Can I rotate only some pages?

The tool rotates all pages together. Extract the pages that need rotating, rotate them, then merge them back with the rest.

I rotated the file and it is still wrong. What now?

The chosen angle is added to each page's existing rotation. Start again from the original file with a different angle, or rotate the result by the angle that completes the correction.

Does rotating change the file size?

Hardly at all, because only the page orientation is changed; content is not re-rendered or compressed.
