PNG to JPG

Convert PNG images to JPG and noticeably shrink the file size without visible quality loss — useful when you need lighter images for a website or app upload.

🔒 All processing happens right in your browser — your files are never uploaded to any server.

When and how to convert PNG to JPG

PNG is great for screenshots, graphics and logos because it keeps every detail, but that same quality makes photographic PNG files very heavy. When a website limits upload size, when you need to attach several pictures to an email, or when you want a shop page to load faster, converting to JPG cuts the file size while keeping the picture clear.

This tool reads your PNG inside the browser, draws it at its original dimensions on a white background, and saves it as a high-quality JPG. Nothing is uploaded to a server; the conversion happens on your own device in a moment.

How to use it

  1. Drag a PNG onto the upload box or click the box to choose one. One image is converted at a time.
  2. Check that the file name and size in KB appear below the box.
  3. Click Convert & download.
  4. After the success message, a file named converted.jpg is saved to your downloads.

What the tool does

  • Keeps the dimensions: the output has the same width and height in pixels.
  • Fills transparency with white: any transparent area becomes white, since JPG has no transparency.
  • Fixed high quality: a single high-quality compression level is used, so there is nothing to configure.
  • Accepts other formats too: the upload box takes any image your browser can open, so GIF or BMP files can be turned into JPG the same way (only the first frame of an animated GIF is kept).

Practical uses

  • Shrinking large screenshots before sending them through messaging apps or email.
  • Preparing product images exported from a design app as PNG for a store that requires JPG.
  • Reducing the weight of blog images so the article loads faster.
  • Converting a PNG passport-style photo for an application portal that only accepts JPG.

Tips before converting

  • Keep transparent logos as PNG: if the logo will sit on coloured backgrounds, a white box will appear around it after conversion.
  • Sharp text: screenshots with small text may show slight compression artefacts around letters, though they usually stay readable.
  • Keep the original: JPG discards some data, so save the PNG if you plan further edits.
  • Still too big? Reduce the dimensions or compress at a lower quality afterwards.
  • The output name is always converted.jpg, so rename files after downloading when you convert several.

For control over the compression level use Compress image, to reduce dimensions try Resize image, and for modern web images use WebP to JPG.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the image dimensions change?

No. The width and height in pixels stay the same; only the file format and size change.

Can I convert several PNG files at once?

The tool converts one image at a time, so upload the next file after the previous one downloads.

Why is there a white box around my logo?

The logo had a transparent background and JPG cannot store transparency, so those areas are filled with white.

Can the JPG end up larger than the PNG?

Occasionally, for simple graphics with few colours, PNG is already smaller. Photographs, however, usually become much smaller as JPG.
