How to convert a Word document to PDF in your browser
Sometimes you need to send a CV, a formal letter or a short report as a PDF, but the computer in front of you has no Word installed, or it is a shared machine where you would rather not install anything. This tool reads a DOCX file and turns its content into a downloadable PDF in seconds. Everything happens inside your browser, so the document is never uploaded to a server.
The conversion works in two stages: first the tool extracts the document content (text, headings, lists, tables and inline images), then it lays that content out on a white page in Arial, captures it as a high-resolution image and places it in a PDF. That makes it a good fit for simple and moderately formatted text documents rather than heavily designed layouts.
How to use it
- Drag your DOCX file onto the Drag DOCX file here box, or click it to pick the file. One file is processed at a time.
- Check that the file name and size appear under the box; remove it with the delete button if you chose the wrong one.
- Click Convert to PDF and wait while the status shows "Converting...".
- The result downloads automatically as converted.pdf, which you can rename.
What the conversion keeps
- Text, heading levels, bold and italic.
- Numbered and bulleted lists and simple tables.
- Images embedded inline in the document body.
- Text direction follows the page language: left-to-right on the English page, right-to-left on the Arabic page.
Practical use cases
- Turning a Word CV into a PDF before attaching it to a job application.
- Preparing a letter or internal notice to share by email or messaging apps in a format that is hard to edit.
- Converting a short assignment because the submission portal only accepts PDF.
- Making a read-only copy of meeting minutes for colleagues without Office.
Tips and limitations
- The output is one long PDF page containing the whole document, not separate A4 pages, so it suits on-screen reading and sharing better than multi-page printing.
- Content is stored as an image, so text in the PDF cannot be selected or searched.
- Original fonts, colours, margins, headers, footers and page breaks are not carried over; the tool focuses on content, not design.
- For Arabic documents, use the Arabic version of the tool so the text is aligned right-to-left.
- Very long documents use more browser memory; splitting them into parts helps.
After converting, you may want to compress the PDF before sending it or merge several PDFs into one file. To go the other way, try PDF to Word.
