File tools
When you need to send a batch of files in one go, or open a compressed file on a device that has no unzip app, the tools in this section do the job from the browser. The ZIP creator bundles the files you select into a single archive that is easy to attach to an email or upload, and the ZIP extractor lists what is inside an archive and lets you download the files.
TAR is the standard archive format on Linux and servers, and developers use it to package project files and backups. You can build a TAR archive that groups files into one file without compressing them, which is handy when moving files to a server or sharing them with a technical team.
Everything happens inside your browser with JavaScript libraries, so your files are not uploaded anywhere, which matters for private documents. Because the work uses your device's memory, very large archives can be slow on a phone. Note that zipping photos, PDFs or videos barely reduces their size because they are already compressed; for real savings use the image or PDF compression tools.
